Is a foggy or watery water meter dial a problem?
1. Water on the Water Meter Dial
First, most water meters do have water inside the glass cover. This may be because the water filled during assembly and inspection wasn't completely drained, or because the meter is a liquid-sealed type with antifreeze inside.

Common household water meters are divided into two types: dry and wet. Dry meters have no water inside the glass cover, while wet meters do.

For dry meters, a small amount of water droplets on the dial is normal. This is because dry meters undergo a pressure test before leaving the factory, which may leave a small amount of water inside. This phenomenon will not affect daily use.
2. Foggy Water Meter Dial
Fog under the glass of a dry meter is caused by large fluctuations in ambient temperature and has no effect on the meter's measurement. As the temperature difference between the water meter's internal temperature and the outside air temperature decreases, fog will generally disappear on its own.

To quickly eliminate fog from the water meter dial, you can use the following methods: run moderately hot water over the dial; use an electric hair dryer to heat the dial glass.
Proper protective measures can help prevent fog: Outdoor water meters should be sited away from direct sunlight and shaded; cover the meter surface with cotton cloth or a towel to minimize the temperature difference between the meter's surface and the internal temperature.
