Introduction to Water Meter Pipe Diameters
I. Common Water Meter Pipe Diameter Specifications and Applicable Scenarios
Different nominal diameters (DN) of water meters correspond to different inch units, common names, and applicable scenarios:
DN15 (1/2 inch) is a small-diameter household water meter, suitable for water supply to ordinary residential homes.
DN20 (3/4 inch) is a large-diameter household water meter, suitable for large apartments, villas, or self-built houses.

DN25 (1 inch) is a small commercial water meter, commonly used in small shops and small offices.
DN32 (1.25 inches) is suitable for medium-sized commercial premises.
DN40 (1.5 inches) can be used as a main meter for residential communities, and is also suitable for restaurants and hotels.
DN50 (2 inches) is a medium-sized commercial water meter, suitable for commercial buildings and public places.

DN80 (3 inches) is a large commercial water meter, suitable for factories, schools, and hospitals.
DN100 (4 inches) is a main meter or industrial water meter, suitable for industrial parks and municipal main water supply networks.
DN150 and above (≥6 inches) are extra-large diameter water meters, suitable for urban water supply and high-flow industrial applications.
II. Water Meter Diameter and Connection Relationship
These two types of water meters are sometimes called residential water meters and industrial water meters. This classification can also be distinguished by the connection form of the water meter casing. Water meters with a nominal diameter of 40mm and below use threaded connections, while water meters with a nominal diameter of 50mm and above use flange connections.

III. Water Meter Pipe Diameter Selection Principles
1. Select based on the daily maximum water flow rate:
Ordinary households: DN15, DN20;
Commercial shops, office premises: DN25~DN50;
Industrial or centralized water supply facilities: DN80 and above.
2. Select based on matching the diameter of the water supply pipeline:
The water meter inlet and outlet should have the same or slightly larger diameter as the pipeline to reduce resistance and errors. 3. Based on the water meter installation space and operating pressure environment:
For areas with limited space, compact water meters should be prioritized;
For areas with fluctuating pressure, models with higher explosion-proof or pressure resistance ratings should be considered
