Identification method of safety markings on steel shell mechanical gas meters

1. Nameplate - The most important safety and compliance mark

The nameplate is the "identity card" of the gas meter. It is usually a label firmly affixed or directly printed/stamped on the steel shell, containing the core information required by regulations.

Identify content:

Manufacturer: Company name and trademark.

Product model (Model): such as G2.5 , G4 , G6 , etc., indicating the nominal flow rate (cubic meters/hour).

Accuracy Class: For example, Class 1.5 (error limit is ±1.5%). This is a key performance indicator.

Maximum Working Pressure: For example, Pmax : 50 kPa .

CMC Mark: The "Manufacturing Measuring Instrument License" mark and license number. This is a legally mandatory certification mark for sales in the Chinese market.

Implementation Standard: Such as GB/T 6968-2019 (China National Standard), which is the basis for product design and inspection.

Date of Manufacture: Usually marked as year and month.

Temp ( temperature range ) and other technical parameters.

Identification method:

Location: Usually in the most conspicuous position on the front or side of the watch.

Material: Mostly corrosion-resistant and wear-resistant metal foil or high-quality plastic labels with clear and permanent writing.

Inspection points: Check whether the nameplate is secure, legible, and complete. Do not use meters with damaged nameplates or unclear information.


2. Safety Warning Label

Directly indicate safety actions and risks, often using bold colors and icons.

Identify content:

The word "gas" or gas type: such as "natural gas", "manufactured coal gas", "liquefied petroleum gas".

Direction arrow: Clearly indicates the direction of gas flow and must be followed during installation .

Warning icons: such as the "flame" icon and the "no fireworks" icon.

Safety tips: such as "Danger of air leakage" , "Please use soapy water to check for leaks after installation" , "Unauthorized disassembly is strictly prohibited" , etc.

Identification method:

Location: near key locations such as the air inlet, air outlet, or cover.

Style: Mostly black text on a yellow background or red text on a white background , very eye-catching.

Inspection points: During installation, inspection, and meter reading, the seal must be checked for integrity . Any damage or missing information should be reported immediately.


3. Serial Number (S/N) - Unique Identifier

Unique code for each gas meter for precise traceability.

Identification: A unique combination of numbers and letters.

Identification method:

Location: Usually on the same label as the nameplate, but may also be printed separately on the case or near the counter.

Format: It can be a pure number (such as 23080001) or a combination of year, month, and serial number (such as SN2312-0001).

Purpose: Used to accurately query the production batches, quality inspection records, factory settings, sales flow, etc. of this table.


4. Batch/Lot Number - Group Traceability Identification

The common code for a batch of watches produced with the same batch of raw materials and under the same production conditions.

Identification content: A code representing the production batch.

Identification method:

Location: It may be on the nameplate, or it may be laser marked or ink-jet coded on a secondary location on the case.

Format: Usually contains the production date (year, month, day) and shift/assembly line information (such as 20231101A ).

Purpose: If batch quality problems occur, all products in the same batch can be quickly locked and recalled by batch number , greatly improving traceability efficiency.


5. Date of Manufacture

The meter's date of birth affects its service life and warranty.

Identify content: Usually indicates the year and month, sometimes with accuracy to the day.

Identification method:

Location: It mainly appears on the nameplate . The batch number itself also implies the production date.

form: YYYY-MM or YYYYMMDD (for example, 2023-11 or 20231101).

Purpose: To determine whether a meter has been stored in inventory for too long, and to calculate warranty period and statutory verification validity period (if required).

If the marking is found to be missing, blurred, wrong or the seal is damaged at any step, the meter should be isolated immediately and reported to the quality department for processing. Installation and use are strictly prohibited.
