Movement of the piston or float: As the water flow increases, the piston or float moves linearly or rotationally within the measuring chamber. Each time water fills the chamber, the piston or float returns to a predetermined volume, triggering a mechanism to record the water flow.

Data transmission and recording: The sensor or mechanical device records the movement of the piston or float and converts it into actual water flow data. This data is then transmitted to a display device, allowing users to view and record the readings.
