1. The Water Meter's Rotational Axis and Water Flow Direction
Rotor water meter: The rotational axis is perpendicular to the water flow direction, and the impeller rotates radially.
Propeller water meter: The rotational axis is parallel to the water flow direction, and the impeller rotates in a spiral.
2. Different Appearances of Water Meters
Rotor water meter: The appearance resembles a "potbelly," with tapered ends and a rounded center.
Propeller water meter: The overall shape is straight, similar to the letter "i," with no noticeable protrusion in the center.
3. Different Performance of Water Meters
Rotor water meter: The metering accuracy is higher, but the pressure loss is greater when the water flows through it, resulting in a relatively low flow capacity. Propeller-type water meters: They offer low starting flow, minimal pressure loss, and high flow capacity, but their metering accuracy is slightly lower than that of rotary vane-type meters.
4. Different Water Meter Installation Methods and Applications
Propeller-type water meters: They have relatively low installation requirements and do not require specialized straight pipe sections. They are suitable for use in locations with low water demand, such as residential areas and shopping malls.
Propeller-type water meters: During installation, a straight pipe section eight times the diameter of the meter connection (at least 5D in front and 3D in the back) is required to ensure stable water flow. They are more suitable for use in industrial sites, agricultural irrigation, and other locations with high water demand, and are easier to maintain.
