Components of a Water Meter
A typical water meter consists primarily of a case, movement, counter, glass, cover, copper pipes, and other accessories.

Meter case: Usually made of copper, some small-caliber water meters also use aluminum alloy, ABS engineering plastic, copper or stainless steel. The meter case is the outer shell of the water meter, used to accommodate other components and withstand the water pressure in the pipe.
Movement: The core component of the water meter, typically made of ABS engineering plastic for excellent stability and strength. The movement contains components such as an impeller and gears. The water flow drives the impeller, which in turn rotates the gears, thereby measuring the water volume.
Counter: Records and displays the accumulated water consumption of the water meter. Common counters consist of a dial wheel or pointer connected to the movement via a gear transmission. As the movement rotates, the dial wheel or pointer advances, displaying the specific water consumption value.

Meter glass: Covers the meter counter, protecting it and facilitating user reading. Meter glass is typically made of transparent material. Some water meters may be directly exposed to water pressure (such as wet-type water meters), while dry-type meters are not.

Smart water meters may also include modules for data collection, conversion, storage, and transmission, such as pulse-type remote transmission modules or non-magnetic data transmission modules, for remote meter reading and data management.
