Classified by working principle, what are the main types of water meters?
According to different working principles, water meters can be divided into the following main types:
1. Velocity water meter
Rotor water meter: When water flows through the water meter, it pushes a rotor with blades to rotate, and the speed of the rotor is proportional to the water flow through the water meter. According to the different ways in which water flows into the movement, it can be divided into single-jet water meter and multi-jet water meter. The water flow of the single-jet water meter flows into the movement from one direction, impacting the rotation of the impeller, which is easy to cause eccentric wear of the impeller movement and low sensitivity; the water flow of the multi-jet water meter flows into the movement from all directions, impacting the rotation of the impeller, which can avoid eccentric wear of the impeller, high sensitivity and long service life.


Propeller water meter: When water flows through the water meter, it pushes a propeller-shaped rotor to rotate, and the number of rotations of the rotor is proportional to the amount of water flowing through. It is suitable for measuring medium flow. According to the different installation methods of the propeller, it can be divided into horizontal propeller water meter and vertical propeller water meter.

2. Volumetric water meter
Usually adopts piston structure, measures the water volume by measuring the actual volume of water flowing through, and rotates in a fixed direction. Its measurement accuracy is high, with an error of about 0.5%. It is mainly used in pure water metering and other occasions with high accuracy requirements.

3.Ultrasonic water meter: Calculates the flow rate by measuring the time difference of sound waves propagating in water, and then determines the flow rate. There are no mechanical moving parts, low maintenance cost, and it is suitable for various flow ranges, but it has high requirements for water quality. Excessive impurities in the water may affect the measurement accuracy.

4.Electromagnetic Flow Meter: using the principle of electromagnetic induction, when water flows through the magnetic field, it will generate an induced electromotive force, and the water flow velocity and flow rate can be calculated by measuring the electromotive force. It has the advantages of high measurement accuracy and strong anti-interference ability. The cost is relatively high, but the water quality requirements are low. It is suitable for water with impurities, sewage, etc.
